Washing Machine was an experiment in novel camera motion: I attached a small video camera to the rim of my car and drove around. The varying speeds created a kaleidoscopic visualization of the changes in the abstraction of motion in the video. As the car accelerated, once recognizable elements of the street became ecstatic blurred lines and strobing shapes. Additionally, the wagon-wheel effect is on full display here, resulting in a perpetual instability of the rotation’s direction.
